20th International Conference on DEFORMATION MECHANISMS, RHEOLOGY & TECTONICS
Aachen, Germany, 7 - 11 Sept 2015
The conference on Deformation Mechanisms, Rheology and Tectonics (DRT) 2015 was held at RWTH Aachen University in Germany, organized by the Institute of Structural Geology, Tectonics and Geomechanics, with support of the Neotectonics and Natural Hazards Group, the Group for Numerical Reservoir Engineering, the Institute of Reservoir-Petrology, and the International Academy, all at RWTH Aachen University.
For DRT 2015 in Aachen, keynotes addressed research on all scales, using different approaches, and from multiple areas for topical sessions on (1) Rheology and Deformation Mechanisms, (2) Paleo-Rheology, 3D Geometry and Kinematics, (3) Uncertainty, Tectonics, Rates, and Surface Processes, (4) Rheology of the Lithosphere and of Metamorphic Rocks, (5) Fault Processes, Fault Rock Evolution and Seismicity, and (6) Structural Diagenesis, Fluid flow and HTMC Processes.
Contributions were published in a special peer reviewed conference volume in Geotectonic Research. Find it at
The individual sessions were filled with exciting contributions from students and experts from all over the world, providing a unique opportunity to interact and foster research collaborations across the different disciplines within the community working on Deformation, Rheology, and Tectonics. In addition to oral presentations we had several topical poster sessions, and a detailed evaluation of Young Researcher posters. Based on the evaluations, we handed out a poster award to Max Peters for his contribution to microstructure modeling.
We would like to thank all participants as well as our sponsors for making DRT 2015 an exciting event.
